It's Been Awhile

Hi friends. It's been awhile. Remember that New Years Resolution to blog twice a week? Yeah, I've sort of fallen off the wagon on that one. I thought I'd take some time to get back into the swing of things, and give you a little peek at what's been going on in my life.

Winter is Gone!

It's June. That shouldn't be a novel concept. But it took awhile. And as winter lingered, I got weary. Friends, I like sunshine. I like NOT being cold. There were a few dark months in early 2015, I'm not going to lie to you. But the temperatures have improved, and we have even seen the sun a few times. I'm learning what it means to be a Chicagoan, and spontaneously embrace the fact that it's nice weather, and drop everything and GET.OUT.SIDE.

To help us celebrate the dawning of a new weather era, we had some family visit! Our sweet niece came to spend a weekend with us, and my parents, aunt & uncle and cousin all came in town for a family-focused half-marathon.

I've Been Running!

As I mentioned above, I ran a half marathon this spring. It was a great way to motivate me all winter long to get to the gym, or brave the weather and get some activity in. It wasn't my favorite race course ever, as the view of the city and lake were intended to be the highlight. Fog and rain had other plans. But it was really special to have my uncle and cousin run, as well, and for family to come and support the race.

I also signed up for the 2015 Chicago Marathon. This will be my second marathon, and I'm super excited about it. Like with childbirth, you can tell it's been awhile since one has run a marathon when they are "super excited" about it. But seriously, I am. The first go around, I trained with a dear friend and it blessed our friendship in some really fun ways. This time, I'm in a new city with no real social support. Enter Team World Vision. This year, I'm running the marathon in support of clean water in Africa, by raising funds for World Vision. The way that clean water provides life and opportunity in a community cannot be understated. To learn more about World Vision or to give money to the project, click here.

I've Been Sampling

At work, life has picked up in a lot of ways. I'm excited to say that you can now find dailyServing in the 8 city Chicago Whole Foods Markets. Of course, there are other places you can get it, but it's big news to share with consumers. A big part of launching a new product is sampling and marketing events. Thus, I have spent many hours showcasing our product and getting our name out there. We'd love to have you follow us on social media. I've Got Interns!

I am so excited to have the chance to have two interns with me this summer. During my internship, I experienced some really awesome preceptors/experiences...and some that provided more info on what I don't want to do/be. I love teaching and this is a fun way to help influence the next generation of dietitians.

One of the interns, Camille (on the right in the photo), will be doing some guest blogging here over the summer. She has a culinary slant to her brainstorms, so I'm sure you'll love seeing her recipes and tips. Stay tuned for her first post next week!

Whew. So that's a quick summary of what I've been up to. Looking forward to getting into a more consistent routine over the summer. Here's hoping!
